LIMA, Perú.
On April 18 the Teresian Association (TA) celebrated seventy years of presence in Perú. For the celebrations and thanksgiving Maite Uribe Bilbao, President of the TA, was in attendance.

0523-6Over two hundred people, friends, family and collaborators joined in the celebration. These are 70 years of implementation of the "good idea" of St. Pedro Poveda in the country. In 1943 a small group of members of the Teresian Association initiated the adventure. Thus a seed started to spread from Guadix to the Peruvian Andes.  It became fertile in Inca land; it became diversified in a culture of ancient peoples, in different realities and with concrete faces. The meeting took place at Isabel Flores de Oliva (Cifo) school. There were many exchanges of words and greetings with gratitude and affection for the charism that the Spirit inspired Poveda to found the TA.

0523-8Through dance school children offered a symbolic representation of the "institutional salvation history" come true in so many works and projects that over the years have affected the lives of many Peruvians. Also there was a photographic exhibition that relived moments of joy and sorrow, of light and shadow, laughter and tears that marked the search for paths for the mission, especially with the poor and needy. With different dances from the coast, highlands, and jungle, they celebrated the places in Perú where the TA has lived its charism and mission during the past 70 years.

Maite Uribe dedicated a few words at the end of the evening celebration, with "grateful memory" for the richness of the life of the TA in Perú during these 70 years. She also invited those present to live the second centenary of the Teresian Association that has started "with a deep look at the local reality and with a universal projection to the challenges of our globalized world”. The song "Father, I believe in you, to be silent would be impossible..." was climax to an evening of grace, joy and gratitude.  We were reminded that "God has done great things for us and He will bring to fruition the work that He has begun here in our land". A warm and happy toast closed the evening with joy and fellowship with the Teresian family in Perú.
