Over the weekend of September 7-8, a meeting was held in preparation for the School of Youth Ministry at Egibide Jesus Obrero of Vitoria- Gasteiz facilities. Over 30 youth ministry leaders of Adsis, Teresian Association, Marianists, La Salle, JEC , Escolapios, Salesians, and a delegation of Youth Ministry and Campus Ministry of the University of León .
At the meeting, the twelfth edition of the School of Youth Ministry, which was initiated by Adsis in 2001, was designed. It will be held on November 16-17 at the Salesian facilities of Atocha, Madrid, with the motto "God brought us together with the same beat." The motto expresses the call for this year, which is geared to deepen the need to live our faith "in community and in relation to the other,” highlighting the ecclesial dimension of faith and communion in youth ministry. In 2008, after the Youth Ministry Forum held in Madrid, other organizations joined in.
Thirty youth gathered in Vitoria. The Teresian Asociation has been involved since three years ago. At that time, it was represented by three members of Acit Joven, Tous Mercè (Barcelona), Mary Conde (Seville ) and Javier Campos (Madrid).
The young people integrated prayer and reflection with large group gatherings, using new technologies, digital platforms, and social networks like Twitter. In addition, they created the website escueladepastoral.org to report on this event.
Six young leaders have created a team to reflect on pedagogical journeys for youth ministry that can be traveled to strengthen the feeling of being Church. Their work will be presented at the School for Youth Ministry. Some gave their opinion about the lines to be followed in this ministry.
During this event, they joined the Day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and the whole world, convened by Pope Francis, and they also organized an open meeting in the chapel of Sychar of the Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Vitoria.
With regard to the testimony of the Holy Father, one of the participants, Carlos Sastre, told Vida Nueva magazine that "he is proving that the simplicity and humility of Jesus can be expected today from the leaders of the Church and the people of God. Francis is raising the hope that a different Church is possible; we hope to contribute our bit and show the world that the Church is to serve and not to be served, to love and not to be loved, to unite and not to divide. "
Also Xandra said that she feels there is a before and an after Francis: "The Pope is bringing something new. He is making the world see what our Church is, placing the needy first. This creates hope in young people. "
