The presence of the Teresian Association in Jaén is already a century old. Along with various initiatives in the city, the school named Pedro Poveda is involved in this centennial celebration through its activities and educational project. Ana M ª del Valle Quirós, Principal, explains how they are living this special anniversary. They have created a blog to share experiences.
"An ambassador of dreams: a traveler called Pedro "
At Pedro Poveda School in Jaén we continue journeying this academic year (2013-2014) as we celebrate the first centenary of the Teresian Association in Jaén and make the dream of Pedro Poveda a reality. Throughout these months (since September) we have been celebrating in our daily work and daily life. We also have time to celebrate the life that we share with others.
On 10 October, the students, faculty and staff of the Center celebrated the birthday of Josefa Segovia, first director of the “Academia de Santa Teresa," which is our school’s predecessor. That day we received "our ambassador of dreams: a traveler called Pedro." This image is going to visit the nineteen centers of the Teresian Association in Spain, sharing our dreams and welcoming the dreams of everyone.
Our ambassador is already on the move. He arrived at the house of “Sta María de Los Negrales,” where he began his journey. The first stop was at José Arnauda School in Alcoy (Alicante). From there he went to St. Teresa and Our Lady of the Angels Schools in Alicante. The ambassador is also on route to schools such as The Armelar (Valencia), Victoria Díez (Teruel), Santa Teresa (León), Santa María la Nueva and San José Artesano (Burgos) etc.
Pedro shares the dreams that everyone has been putting in his backpack at the different schools. Some dreams shared by different educational communities make us aware that the dream of St. Pedro Poveda is becoming a reality in many different areas and with faces that share much life.
Meanwhile the faculty of our Center would like this centenary to be an opportunity to deepen into the identifying characteristics of the Centers of the Teresian Association, having "the head and the heart on the present moment" (P Poveda)
We want to continue making this dream a reality in our here and our now. Thus we are trying to make the "Spiritual Messages," written by Pedro Poveda in1912 for teachers and students of the first Teresian Academy, alive in us. We want to "place God in the heart" and " be eminently human and all God's"
We are living this opportunity with great enthusiasm; we have many dreams and some are becoming a reality, as we place our trust in God’s Providence, in the style of Pedro Poveda.
