The book on the History of the Teresian Association (1911-1936) is recognized among the latest publications in various specialized media. The Alpha y Omega newspaper gives a brief review in its issue of October 30. Miguel de Santiago has worked in Ecclesia magazine as editor in chief and in various TV, National Radio stations and newspapers in Spain. He has published books on poetry and others on intellectuals of the Second Spanish Republic, in collaboration with Victor Manuel Arbeloa.
J.L.R. History of the Teresian Association (1911-1936), published by Silex publishing company, is a six-hundred page book packed with abundant notes of scientific rigor that make up this first volume of the history of the Teresian Association covering from its foundation by Pedro Poveda in 1911 at the Shrine of Covadonga, to the death in martyrdom of the founder in the tragic summer of 1936.
It is a collective work written by eleven women, all renowned university professors, and coordinated by Francisca Rosique, director of the Pedro Poveda Chair and director of Crítica magazine from 1987-1992.
All the themes, the sections, the narrative style, the historical-critical methodology regarding the origin and the evolution, the changes and activities regarding the difficulty of a collective work have been very well thought out. The work, the outcome is coherent. Thanks to the editorial efforts of Francisca Rosique, we hope that the history of this Povedan contribution may continue, slowly but surely, till our time today.

The first third of the volume, written by Francisca Rosique, contextualizes the work of Pedro Poveda with the innovative flavor of his pedagogy and the involvement of Catholics in a holistic education, both culturally and spiritually, in society; the taking root of a new charism that would go through different legal status and activities.
The entire book tries "do the talking” while transmitting "genuineness" and controlled passion. It tries to bring to the present the heritage and educational foundation of a charism. In these pages, Poveda's educational proposal, the specific spirituality, and the rise of feminism that has a Catholic imprint are analyzed. Also, of course, it presents what the secular policy of the Second Republic meant for the Association, which in a way favored Catholic mobilization and modernization of the organizational structures of the Church, hitherto dormant, with little presence of the laity. But it would also upset the intolerant new republican regime and Poveda, who contributed to instill, personally and collectively, a spirit of dialogue and forgiveness, while sustaining the defense of the Christian life, died murdered; but the secular laws could not prevent his educational Work and his modern lay Association.

-R. The Teresian Association, an association of lay women who contributed to the significant transformation of the personal and social status of women favored higher education from an academic and intellectual perspective, and also the development of values of Christian humanism to exercise social and critical leadership, through various job responsibilities. The founder of it, St. Pedro Poveda, knew that the role of women was to be increasingly important, and because of this he favors a logical and fair Christian feminism, because he understood that the intellectual world was the world the future. He also sensed the influence that educated woman would have on the future of modern society.

The text covers the first phase of the history of those who make up the Association founded by Saint Pedro Poveda in 1911. This is a story that began with difficulties and that encouraged and presented new horizons to the women who were taking the first steps in politics and society.
The book is available in bookstores in Madrid, especially in Antonio Machado and in St. Paul bookstores.
