DUBLIN, Irland.
September 27 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Teresian School in Dublin, Ireland. A Mass of Thanksgiving, presided by Bishop Paul Callan, was celebrated Sacred Heart Church. A reception followed at the school premises.
Anniversaries need to be celebrated.
Because to celebrate an anniversary
means to say to those involved:
Thank you for being here,
thank you for being you,
for being among us.
We celebrate the past,
- the good and the bad times,
and we thank God.
For God has brought us to this day,
for this we are grateful.
When we celebrate an anniversary
we stand beside the people (on earth or in heaven),
who made it possible,
to tell them we love them.
We are proud of how,
through thick and thin,
God has accompanied the Teresian School
Leading us to this moment, to this day,
wanting the big and small moments of life in the School
to happen God’s way.
Celebrating this 50th Anniversary, therefore,
is not only about success -though somehow it is too.
It is about remembering,
about being grateful for and at peace with how things have been.
St. Pedro Poveda once wrote:
“There is a decisive moment in everyone’s life
and happiness usually begins by making the most of it”.
We rejoice in the many decisive moments
that have brought forth happiness to our students’ lives.
We are free to be here.
We are free to celebrate the goodness of life
by showing gratitude and kindness,
forgiveness, gentleness
and affection for all the Teresian School stands for.
This is the time God has made for us,
for us to be and be together.
For each person,
who made the last 50 years possible,
we are proud and joyful.
With each one
we too pronounce our ‘Magnificat’.
So, let us go forth with Joy, Fortitude and Love
And continue to sing ‘Dios te Salve María’.
