JAÉN, Spain.
On the centenary of the presence of the Teresian Association in Jaén we share experiences of the Rajab Project that takes place in this city.

Poveda’s proposal has its roots in the Proposal of Jesus of Nazareth: "Assume human reality from within to be able to raise it to its fullness".

"Pedro Poveda started to make this proposal a reality in the area of the caves of Guadix and currently the Rajab Project of the Teresian Association, along with other projects it carries out, is trying to be a response to the challenges of the present moment.

Inspired by the efforts of Pedro Poveda, the Rajab Project aims at welcoming immigrants, our brothers and sisters.

The objective is to assist immigrants in their integration process to take roots by offering them an open, welcoming, and hopeful space that facilitates mutual relationships. Create a space where we share the wealth of diversity and experiences with some relaxation, which is part of Poveda’s categories, along with the opportunity to receive Spanish lessons given by a team of volunteers. The classes are complemented by a series of educational, cultural and recreational activities.

0118-3Pedro Poveda School of Jaén opens the door for these activities on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, after the school day. The leaders of the project claim that "this experience confirms us in the certainty that the differences are for us an opportunity for mutual enrichment, walking together in a friendly encounter.  From this experience, we claim that living with people of different faiths and cultures is one of the best signs that meeting in diversity is a reality that enriches and opens us."

Making Project Rajab known and continue working on it is a way to celebrate the Centenary of the Teresian Association in Jaén. "Congratulations to all those who have known the good idea of Poveda and have allowed ourselves to be infected by it, transmitting it to others in our shared work with many who also seek to respond with their the eyes and hearts fixed on the present moment."
