ROME, Italy.
Anna Maria Donnarumma, specialist in planning and project management, has done an interpretative reading of “Alrededor de un Proyecto,” (About a Project) which is a   text written by St. Pedro Poveda and published in 1913.  At a meeting held on December 3rd at the headquarters of "Villa Ximenes" of the Teresian Association in Rome, she presented it with the title of “Progettualitá educativa ed incidenza sociale in Pedro Poveda Castroverde.  Una lettura interpretativa di “Alrededor de un Proyecto.” The author wanted to highlight the 100th anniversary of Poveda’s publication.

“Alrededor de un Proyecto” is a publication that gathers articles and comments concerning pedagogical projects, published by Fr. Pedro Poveda, Canon of Covadonga, and compiled by Fr. Francisco Baeza Martinez, pastor of San Francisco.”

Historian Encarnación González made a presentation explaining that, between September 1912 and March 2013, Pedro Poveda had published the articles in “Catholic Education” and “Modern Teaching” Journals.  When his friend, Fr. Francisco Baeza Martinez, wanted to publish them, he thought of a systematic compilation.  This edition has three chapters with several different titles from those of the originals.  There is also a 4th chapter that replicates a dialogue titled "Histórico,” which is found at the end of a publication called "Diary of a Foundation," by Pedro Poveda.

In her presentation, Anna Maria Donnarumma expressed the interpretative lens through which she has read and analyzed the content of “Alrededor de un Proyecto.” Her approach was to make clear that all the articles are geared towards a project with a clear line of thought.

She highlighted the charismatic intuition of Pedro Poveda in his first projection to social and public life by participating in the cultural dialogue of his time in a purposeful manner.  Anna Maria Donnarumma 's thesis is to review such intuition today as a valid and motivating invitation for everyone who wants to engage sincerely and effectively in the sociocultural field.

The focus of her work has been to deepen into the story of his pedagogical approach to detect Povedan "energies that shape the articles in their thematic approach and they could be a guide for current proposals.”

The work of re-reading identifies three key moments: The prospect of a project, the proposal for a project, and the evaluation of a project.  Each of these has been studied from the perspective of indicators used to design a project. Specifically, in the chapter on "assessment" of the results of a project, the presenter studied the "argumentative and communicative power" contained in the original text.  She identified a kind of contextual framework that points to the words Pedro Poveda used repeatedly.  An example is the word "scheme," the meaning of which is defined as "the intersection of time and the era for action programs that respond to needs.”  A proposed change that will advance the good of a nation or an organization that encourages union that will favor effective solidarity is detected. The whole of Poveda’s proposal, read within a context of meaning and feasibility of planning and project management, provides guidelines for the goals, objectives, strategies and evaluation of results thereof.

The presentation of Anna Maria Donnarumma has included the language adopted by the social sciences and, in some cases, political science.

At the end, the presenter invited further reading of this “Alrededor de un Proyecto,” and of the other educational writings of Pedro Poveda with the promise of finding ideas to achieve actions and projects for today.
