SANTANDER, Spain.
Santander Cathedral hosts an exhibition of paintings, "The Interior Castle," by Maria Teresa Martínez Ugalde. The exhibition was inaugurated with a poetic-musical gala last Thursday April 16. It will remain open until May 3.
The exhibition is organized by the Teresian Association in Santander to honor St. Teresa of Jesus in the V centenary of her birth (Avila, 1515-1588). The opening ceremony was enriched with a poetic musical program inspired by the book "Interior Castle" by Saint Teresa.
Admiration for Saint Teresa
The Teresian Association in Santander reports that when the news of an exhibition of paintings on Santa Teresa was spread, academicians became interested and offered their collaboration.
Thus, the opening program was attended by a group of seven poets who offered their "literary contribution” on the book "The Inner Castle." One of the writers was Nieves Álvarez Martín, born in Avila and living in Cantabria since 1975.
Also, Luis Mazorra Incera, composer and organist, explained the characteristics of the time of this Doctor of the Church as well as "the language of the baroque music of that time."
The exhibition of paintings, which will remain open until May 3, is located in the cathedral.
