Maria Mercedes Mesa presents her first novel in Miami. Since leaving Cuba in 1965, Maria de las Mercedes Mesa has dreamed of writing a novel “to share the wealth of experience that I bring with me." Finally, she has succeeded. On May 2 she presented a novel of 482 pages entitled: “Un ingenio cubano: historias amores y sueño” (A Cuban sugar mill: loves, and dreams).

On April 29, at Cathedral Square in Jaén, an emotional ceremony was held in memory of the recently deceased immigrants in the Mediterranean Sea as they tried to arrive in Europe. The event was organized by Jaen’s Rajab Project, the Secretariat for Migration, HOAC, Jaén “Acoge,” Amnesty International, and other organizations. The life of Pedro Poveda, Spanish priest, educator, and a pioneer in promoting the rights of women since the dawn of the twentieth century, will be brought to the big screen by Goya Productions in co-production with Three Columns Entertainment. The film will be shot in April and May in Madrid, Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, Guadix, and the Sanctuary of Covadonga. Filming will begin on April 15 in Ciudad Rodrigo, and it will continue in Guadix, Covadonga, Madrid, and Salamanca.

To celebrate the centenary of the birth of Brother Roger of Taizé, founder of the Ecumenical Community of Taizé, and the fiftieth anniversary of Vatican II, called by Pope John XXIII, the ECUDIR Group of the Teresian Association (TA) organized an act of thanksgiving for the gift of the lives of these two great men, witnesses of faith and reconciliation in the Church and in the world. The event took place on February 19 at the Headquarters of the TA in Madrid.
